First Thursday Class - Down

How many of you moved when you were kids? Do you remember that first day of school when you walk into class and everyone knows everyone else and you're just sort of standing there awkwardly in the corner?

This is pretty much how I felt walking into class this morning:

Soul-crushing, heart-pounding, cold-sweat-inducing social anxiety took over and I tried to make light of it as best I saying "hey guys, I'm taking over this class for Carolyn. Bear with me while I get used to this setup...I'm not really a morning person."

Silence. Then one woman said, "Well this isn't really the best job for you then is it?"

But, I survived. The room is really headphones required, which is cool since now I get to hear the music the same as everyone else. But it also means I can hear when people are having a conversation in the middle of class...for the whole class. Looks like next week is going to be intervals, ladies.

This week's profile was Power Hills again (love that one) with a pop-heavy playlist. I think that's enough of that. 2 Glee songs should not be on the same list. Oops. Way to make a first impression, huh? *sigh*

Anyway, that's what's up in my world. Classes are going well (so far all A's!) and work is busy. The critters are nuts, but that's another story for another day.

What's going on in your world? Tell me something you think is too mundane to put in your own blog, but you still want to share.

Still alive

New glasses! And part of an apron I'm working on for a wedding gift. 3 quilts in various stages of "the works" and a couple small projects here and there fit in between work, classes, and observation hours. Busy busy life I love. :)

Sneak preview

Sunday's ride is called the Inception Ride. It's not finalized yet, but it's a strength ride. It'll start your Sunday off right, promise. Will post tomorrow.

Loooong Day

And it's not even close to over.

Started at 430 this up, dragged my behind to the gym, and got familiar with the sound setup at the gym where I'll be waking up every Thursday from the 21st until infinity.

Rose, when I took my shirt off after spin, it made me think of you..

You're welcome.

After that, I got some observation time in then went to work for a full day and got a lot done. Now I'm home with 3 exams and 2 homework assignments to do so I can play (read: powerwash and paint the house) this weekend.

I'm teaching spin Sunday morning, and I have a pretty sweet idea for a ride. More on that later.

Passing Out the Koolaid

Have I ever mentioned the fact that I have the Spinning koolaid pretty much IV'ed directly into my veins? I love it. I think it's hands down the best group exercise available. There's a social aspect to it without the (inevitable for me) humiliation of everyone else realizing you have no idea what you're doing. I mean, it's pedaling a don't even have to worry about the bike falling over!

That guy is better than I am at step-based anything.
I love spinning because it really is MY workout. No one else can tell if I'm working super hard (Ok, usually they can tell that) or if I'm slacking...even better, no one can tell how little resistance it takes some days to take me into the purple-faced expletive zone. At the end of class, everyone is sweaty, everyone is glowing, and everyone knows they gave it their all. There's no peer-pressurized guilt because no one else knows what you're doing. It's a beautiful thing.

All that to say, my parents are coming out to visit friends in a couple months, and they're staying at our place for a couple nights. Payment for spending Friday night at our house is coming to spin Saturday morning. I've already requested to teach that Saturday morning and guess what? My dad agreed to come to spin as long as Nick came too! I am beyond pumped about this! (A little nervous too, since this'll be his first class and if it turns out to be terrible he might not come back!) I'm already coming up with the playlist and profile and it's seriously almost 3 months from now. I can't wait.

So here's my question for you guys: my dad LOVES classic rock. Classic rock can be ok sometimes for spin, but not everything works. I want to make the playlist something he'll be able to sing along to, but I need remixes of stuff...think Eagles, Journey, etc. What's your favorite classic rock remix? Any band, any song. Why is it your favorite?

And just because you read all the way down, enjoy this guy hitting a pinata with a frozen fish. You're welcome.

Need AC

Today was day 2 of the annual week of Texas retribution. I spend 9 months a year laughing at my parents for thinking 40 degrees is "cold" and they get one week a year to laugh at me for thinking 80 is "hot". At least you can sleep when it's cold. Hmph.

So today was an omgitstoohottodoanythingbutwhine day. So what did I do? I went to Joann's and picked up some goodies

Obsessively checked to see if my GRE scores are back yet (they are...nailed it!)

And spent the first half of the day marvelling at the human body and being beyond stoked that I've finally found some direction to my life. Loves it.

This is the last week for 3 of my week 2 more start up (A&P 2 w/lab) and I'm still avoiding writing this one paper like the plague. It's supposed to be on compulsive exercisers...heavy stuff I know. I'm not really sure where I'm going with it, but it needs to be 8-10 pages. Blerg. Anyone have an angle that sounds interesting?

What'd you do with your 4th?
Is 80 hot where you're from? Is 40 hell freezing over or is it shorts weather?

New Blogger Woes?

Is anyone else having issues with comments being emailed to them, with this new blogger layout? If you're wondering (all 2 of you) why I haven't been responding to comment emails, it's because I haven't been getting matter how many times I put in my email address and save, it's erased when I move away from the page. Anyone having this issue?
